The Nokia Symbian Belle smartphone series has launched, starting with Nokia 600. Starring: Janice Wong (me) on cello!

In July 2011 I received a call from a colleague of a friend at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam telling me that for their next commercial they were casting “an Asian-looking cellist”. Well, cool, perfect, that was a coincidence! Then they proceeded to ask me; “Well, the shoot is in London, and we’ll fly you there, is that ok?” Ok? Is that OK? Of course that is OK, that is the best!!! In the end, in turned out that they were collecting stories of ‘Trying Something New‘ (the theme of the ad); they heard my story of auditioning for my idol and ending up on stage with her (see that story: Imogen Heap at Melkweg) and liked it so much they wanted me to play myself, and not an actor. This was a great experience! Thanks to all involved and special thanks to Maggie.
